Buwaa/ Entain.

This is Lioness-Sia saying hello in my native tongues of Mende (Buwaa: boo.wah) and Kono (Entain: ehn.tay.in). Good to have you here with us! Thank you, and welcome. Allow me to introduce myself musically:

My inspiration for music is, first and fore-most indigenous culture. Music and dance in west-African culture permeates every sector of society. Since birth, I was soaking up the vibrations from the culture. I want to continue creating music and dance and other styles of art because of the spiritual avenues that open up when fully immersed in the vibrational shifts that emerge from these energies.

Influences from my country people include Amie Kallon, the Wam Pot musical comedians, Muyei Power, Emmerson, Jimmy B, K-Man, and Steady Bongo. I am also inspired by other African artists like Brenda Fassie, Mirian Makeba, Sona Diabate, Fatoumata Diawara, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Platform One, Fela Kuti, Sade, P-Square, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, 2Face Idibia / 2Baba, 9ice, Don Jazzy. Ah, the list goes on! My western influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Rihanna, Chief Adjuah( Christian Scott),Dolly Parton, and Shania Twain. I am inspired by a wide blend of genres from rock, metal, blues, to country, folk, traditionally indigenous music and everything in-between.

I approach creating music as a healing outlet, a way to tell a story, and a way to connect with source through community. I work to always tell clearly, remember, and live by the message I convey with my music, especially when pertaining to the decolonization of minds. Regardless of the message, I aspire to bring elements of dance and communal celebration in the music I create. I never want to create solitary music because I believe all our vibrations in harmony help to create the connection with source, so the more vibrations together, the better!

I have always been told, and I do believe, my vastly diverse influences paired with my own experiences in this realm create a unique style of art. I have never really been compared to any specific artist for this matter, and I love it that way. I do not aim to sound like anyone else because my perspective is unique enough to bear a voice that has never been heard before, vibrations that have never been felt before. I hope to inspire anyone and everyone to arrive fully in their expression to be able to tell their very own unique stories. I do not only hope to inspire, I aim and will create a path for that to be possible.
