Alive is a song for the remembrance of ancestors. It is believed in many cultures that a spirit is kept alive so long as other beings keep their vibrational frequency active in the living realm. The veil separating the living and dead, is believed, will shift with the vibrations of their frequency created by their memory allowing the realms to integrate and the remembered “real” once more. We keep the vibrational frequencies active by recalling memory, singing songs, and promoting thoughts that evoke the spirits.

This mid-residential performance took place in the Wild Beast at California Institute of the Arts on December 13th, 2023. Supporting vocals were supplied by Mareshah DuPree, Toria Shi, Jeffery Martin, and Christopher Lin. Percussion was supplied by Ben Schultz and Josh Saldago. Set was designed by Kianna Shea Ruesga. Lighting was designed by Ella Fornof.
